Bridges
A dental bridge is a restoration
that fills in the space of a
missing tooth or teeth. Dental
bridges consist of a solid tooth
(pontic), which replaces the
missing tooth and is usually
connected to the teeth on either
side (abutments). This is
usually accomplished by putting
dental crowns over these teeth.
Without the use of a dental
bridge, gaps between teeth can
cause your remaining teeth to
shift. This can cause bite
problems, jaw problems, and
can contribute to periodontal
disease.
